Sebaceous HyperplasiaDefinition It is defined as a skin condition in which a person develops small, yellowish growths, usually on the face. It is sometime called as Fordyce's condition. It is a benign hair oil-gland overgrowth. It is characterised by tiny yellow dots in groups and sometimes in sheets on the lips, inside the mouth, and sometimes on the genital skin. It is a proliferation of sebaceous glands around a hair follicle. The lesions may appear as small i.e.1-3 mm, superficial papules with a central pore. They do not tend to bleed as easily as do basal cell carcinomas. It is a skin disease typical to youth, but it may occur to the people at any age. They can be treated best with electrosurgery, but some lasers have shown promise. Causes of Sebaceous HyperplasiaThe main causes of sebaceous hyperplasia are as:-
